Columbus Carriage House Bed & Breakfast

The Garden Room

This is a bright, cheery room facing out on the Boulevard. Three windows face east so the morning sun streams into the Garden room.... Pull the blinds if you would like to sleep in, because the sun will wake you up in the morning.

Back in 1902, a part of this room was used by the Wright's dressmaker. She would travel from New York with patterns, fabric and the latest fashions from New York. The family would gather around the dining room table to decide who got each piece of fabric, and what new dresses and hats would be created. The dressmaker lived in the home while she worked. The three turret windows provide lots of light for sewing.

The bathroom is attached, and has a clawfoot tub with telephone style shower. On a sunny morning the bathroom dances with rainbows created by the cut glass. It is beautiful!

Nancy's childhood dress hangs on the closet door.  This is a fine example of English Smocking, and was made by her mother over 60 years ago.
